Orientation week '24

Dear exchange students and international students coming to the University of Akureyri!

Orientation day for new exchange students and international students will be held on Friday the 30^th of August.

• We aim to host the orientation day onsite in room N102 and we start at 09:00 with an introduction to the university. You will be introduced to some key persons regarding international matters for UNAK both academic and socially. Our rector will say a few words and then we will have representatives from the student union. Please note that almost all courses will start the week after (from 02.09.2024 and onwards) and most of the lectures are recorded and available online also. You will get your timetables and other info in the first weeks of August and don‘t worry there is still time to make some changes to your course selection if you are coming as an exchange student.
• At 10:00 you will have an introduction to the library and library systems. Piia Viinikka and Sigríður Ásta will present the library.
• At 10:30, after the library introduction you will have an introduction to our computer system, our new inner web Ugla, Moodle, wi-fi etc. The introduction is in the hands of Óskar Þór. You will be provided with the computer access information via e-mail prior to the orientation and with that you will have the access to Ugla, where you can see your timetable, books etc.
• At 11:00, you will meet the student counsellors Árný Þóra, María and Aníta - and the examination manager- Bryndís, for short introduction.
• At 11:30 the University bell will be tolled.
• At 12:00 there will be a barbecue hosted by the student Union SHA.
• At 19:30 there will be an Welcoming Party at Ölstofan, where there will be karaoke and kahoot!
